One of my favorite things to do heading into the holiday season is train for a holiday run/walk or two. It’s a fun festive thing to do but also helps me fight any holiday weight gain resulting from the endless bombardment of sweets.
Luckily there are several in and around Los Angeles. One of my favorites, is Feliz Navidad 5k (formerly Christmas 2 Give 5k). A challenging course that weaves through hilly Elysian Park and also includes grand, sprawling views of the city.
Here’s more about the event from it’s organizers:
“Join us for a fun and memorable 5k, with a scenic cross country style course on a mix of dirt, grass and asphalt. The course is moderately challenging with about 3/4 of a mile of gradual hills. You will love the course, as well as the view of Los Angeles and the Dodger Stadium.
Make sure to come out and help our cause, while promoting a healthy lifestyle within the community.
Feliz Navidad 5k (formerly Christmas 2 Give 5k) was created to make a change in the lives of others, therefore this year we will be conducting a shoe drive. That’s right, bring any shoes, new or used and lets give to The MORE Foundation Group.
Social dogs on-leash allowed but please start at the back and be respectful of other attendees by keeping your dog on a short leash.”
